NETS triages patients who are too sick for normal ambulance transfer between hospitals. It connects clinicians in referring and destination hospitals (where the child is being transferred to) in a telephone conference to discuss the best treatment and safe retrieval and transfer.  

NETS works with a number of specialists, neonatologists (doctor for newborn babies), emergency medicine specialists and surgeons to provide referring doctors with rapid access and advice from doctors who are regularly involved in decisions about transferring children to hospitals for treatment.
