Parent handbook

Parent handbook

Here's where we unpack some of the common questions we get asked about from carers and families.

Introduction

You are reading this handbook because the doctor or nurse caring for your child has asked that your child be transferred to a hospital with specialised facilities.

The NSW newborn and paediatric Emergency Transport Service (NETS) is a specialised intensive care transport service for sick babies and children.

The expert NETS teams bring special mobile intensive care equipment to sick babies and children and then transfers them to a specialist facility or hospital.

Your treating doctor or nurse will tell you why they are calling NETS for your child and they will request your informed consent.

Over 250 hospitals and facilities call on NETS for advice about acute transport of patients between hospitals.
